Hello, is anybody there?

Why have I been so quiet on the blog? There's a reason. Last Wednesday, lightning struck my house. There was a BANG! and a flash. Darkness. When the power came back, we discovered that the computer was fried and the telephone line was disconnected.

Up to now, five days later, both are still not restored. The computer is still in the workshop. My line is still down. I'd been chasing Telekom to no avail. Seems like after the change to TM, service has gotten worse. I reported the fault on Thursday. The next day, a technician came to check and said he'll restore the line at the exchange. Up to now, still silence.

I'd been trying hard to reach someone at TM but in these days of automation, it's so hard to get a life person at the end of the line.

I've called 100 to report the fault several times in the hope that this will help to expedite the repair.

I've called TM Call Centre to check on status. Each time it's an answering machine that puts you on hold saying "Our call centre consultant will be with you shortly" or something to that effect. Then it said, "or leave a message after the beep." What's the point when nobody bothers to return the call? After more than ten tries, I've yet to speak to the call centre consultant.

100 gave me a telephone number at Jln Langat office to follow-up. Nobody picks up the phone. I rang 103 for a number to call at the Klang office. No reply either. Hello, is there anyone working in TM?

What does TM stands for? Takde Masa for customers?

Usually when the lightning strikes, your modem is the 1st to hit, 2nd comes to your PC port, 3rd comes to your mabo. The phone adaptor at the wall that closed to your PC and the one at your house corner that linked to the tel pole are likely to be burnt and be shorted circuit.

I think you need a diy job or else call up the tel wire contractor to fix the damaged adaptors before you place your sos call to TM. Possibly your line will be just restored with the good contacted circuit.

TM stands for Terus Mati. Haiyo, I've had my share of grief with Telekom/TMNet, whatever. I was charged for calls that I never use and the story is endless. You have to write a letter to the head of Customer Service, only then you'd get a speedy service. The problem lies in the sub-contract of the work. In my case last time, they had subcontract the work to a third party and Telekom didnt know that the third party had played truant. Try your luck with the Customer Service Department, don't call, fax something over. So that its in black and white. GOod luck.

TM may also stand for 'Tolong Mampus' to it's customers. The service it provides is horrid. Hope you get things back in order soon.

I have the same problem at the moment. No, no lightning, just moving house. But I have to transfer my telephone line (which was quick) and streamyx to my new house....BUT...till today, nobody from bloody streamyx called me. I left message after message also nobody interested in my business. I can't move unless my line and internet connection is moved. And same like you, am stuck until someone in TM decides that I am worthy of their time and effort!

Bah!

Oh ya, forgot to mention....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember to unplug all cables when there's lightning outside. Been struck once too - not much fun.

So, now I have to review my motto from '24/7 freelancer' to '24/7 freelancer except when there's lightning outside'.

My service is now dependant on the weather. Strange. It's just like Astro. Got rain, no Astro.

p3p4 : aiyo got put3put4 and pu1pu3, i'm getting so mixed up between you two.

pu1pu3, haha Terus Mati. They're not so bad lah.

doreen, stabilizer - do you mean UPS? Don't think it helps.

Josh, Can't help smiling at that Tolong Mampus. Anyway, they rectified the problem, finally. Now to wait for my computer, got to send in to manufacturer - it's that bad.

Ailin, you're with TM? Pls do something.

Marsha, you have my sympathies. I'm glad I don't have Astro (yes, I'm that ulu). Re switching off stuff, unfortunately folks in the house sometimes don't cooperate, so now everyone has to pay the price. No computer for two weeks!

Syaf, welcome! thanks for dropping by.

always pull out the plugs to your puter and modem all the time after use. never leave them unplugged. even if they're turned off, if they're still plugged, the lightning can travel through the wires and blow up your puter.

Hi Lydia
According to Nic, TM stands for Tahi Manok. ;-) Manok is the S'wak BM for Ayam so it's basically Tahi Ayam he says. And that new TM ad on TV these days? They should've spent that money on better customer service. Another teruk case is Courts Mammoth. The only mammoth thing about them is their ego I guess. Lousy as hell customer service, even AFTER calling them gazillion times! Never buy anything from them! =mayakirana=

KT, Tak maulayan - that's actually TML but very apt.
Aneeta, we should form a NATO club - No Astro, Terrestrial Only.
Ailin - aiya!
V - scary, like virus in alien movie.
Maya - Very creative your hubby.

yup, TM's customer service really stinks. I recently moved into my new house a few months ago and had to shift my phone line account's previous address to the new one. At first i thought the TM people were going to handle my case efficiently as was assured by the person i submitted the form to. Well, i had to wait for a month for my new phone line to be connected. Then a week later my line went dead. I called up 100 to complain. The operator said a technician will be sent to fix the problem. I waited in vain. I called 100 day after day, with the same result for a week. Frustrated, I went to the Kedai Telekom where I registered everything and to my surprise I found out that my phone number has been changed without my knowledge. I'm honestly baffled at how this could have possibly happened. Well, after filling out yet another form to rectify the problem, I went home and waited yet again. I have to say my patience nearly went down the drain when the same episode happened all over again. I mean, come on. To discover that your phone number has been repeatedly changed without your knowledge AND consent is just too much. I certainly doubt their so called efficient work conduct in this case.
