Finally Life's Like That - Scenes from Malaysian Life is up for sale on
Please click here to go there. If any of you have read my book and like it, could you please do me a favour? Go to Amazon.co.uk and write a nice little review for the book. I know you're going to ask for commission. Unless the book sell by the thousands, I can assure you it's not that lucrative. But if I see you, I'll buy you coffee but please don't ask for Starbucks. Local kopi, okay?
To see the contents page, just click on the Table of Contents and for more details on the book including the author's comment, click on See All Reviews. Ignore the weird little symbols which are actually quote marks and apostrophes.
BTW if you don't like the book, tell me why but don't go and post it on Amazon, please. Oh dear, I hope I haven't given you any ideas.

can i also promote my book here? its also available on amazon...aiyah - i get so little royalty! When I get my autographed copy of Life's Like That - am keeping it safe till it fetches a good price!
Kak Teh, The title is Colloquial Malay, right? Wah, not bad, ten years since it's been published, still got royalty coming in. I'm excited Life's... is on Amazon because earlier it wasn't available there.
Jane, thanks but don't make us blush. Hope to count you in as a published author some day soon.
Hi,
Just checked out your blog and your book on Amazon.com. Very well done. Congrats!
Cheers
Thanks, Zafar. Readers, you may like to check out Zafar's cool site at http://www.kitaab.org/
Its tagline is Celebrating Asian Writing in English.
Lydia, I have not bought your book (shame). I enjoy reading "Malaysiana' books and laughing at our own peculiarities. OK I admit I have a book written by someone else (it has a green cover) :) and totally enjoyed it. I am very sure I would LOVE your book. I saw it at Popular. Oh, one American I know reads such books in an attempt to better understand us Msians.
Queen, That green book is Lee Su Kim's Malaysian Flavours. It's a great book. Mine is something like that, but more personal in nature I think. Though I'd lurve it if everyone who's heard of my book buys it, it's not going to happen, so nothing to feel bad about :) That American is very astute.
whenever I go back, these are the kind of books i'd buy - I have several of Lee Su Kim's, Culture Shock, some of Karim Raslan's and of course Lydia's - my latest acquisition but i left it in Malaysia cos I bought too many books. And of course - Lat's!
Lydia, when I buy your book, can I get it autographed????? (puss-in-boots from shrek2 look).
That goes for you, too, Kak Teh.
Oh, Kak Teh, I have a very old book titled "Kitab Kiliran Budi". Had a good time recently going through it again, trying to explain the old spelling to my kids, and marvelling at the beauty of those simpulan bahasa, peribahasa and bahasa kias-kias (betul ke my bahasa ni?)
Three cheers for Kak Teh! For Queen too! Aisay, of course can autograph. Where got other chance to feel like VIP?
